So i started looking around at different dating sites and the thing is that i dont really want to date in the traditional sense of the word date. i am not looking for a life partner and i am not looking to have a boyfriend who i have to call all the time and do sweet things with. honestly, i am too busy for that romantic stuff. i want people to hang out with and go out on dates without any weirdness and make out and hook up and do it with afterwards. is this too much to ask.

i put up a profile at match.com and yahoopersonals, then and so i find this website called efriendswithbenefits.com. i checked it out and it seems legit. not too many people on it yet, but it seems to be a no strings attached kind of thing. less of a be my bride and more lets hang out and fuck. we'll see. i am a bit nervous about this whole internet thing. i mean, it seems like a logical way to get what i want out of life, but i cant help but feel that weird, apprehension. allright. i will stop talking now.

so anyway, if you want to read about my exploits, become my friend. it should get pretty interesting.

Introductions... [Mar. 2nd, 2005|08:35 am]

[Current Mood |weirdeccentric]
[Current Music |Tool]

My original post was pretty obnoxious... sorry 'bout that, I was in a mood.

I've lived in Portland since Octover 2003. I moved here from Denver, for work (sort of backwards, I know) but I am not from there. I moved to Denver from Ketchum, Idaho by way of Worceseter, MA; West Point, NY; El Paso, TX; Germany; NYC; back to El Paso (yeah, lived there twice, if you can imagine it) and Monument, CO. Of all the places I have been or lived, Portland is in my top two favorites.

Music: Floyd, always. Other than that, recently I've found stuff like Tool, A Perfect Circle, Rammstein, Disturbed and Lords of Acid relax me. Classical music and Jazz are also obvious staples.

Books: Heinlein, Hemmingway, Stephenson, in that order. I just found out about Coupland and plan on obsessing over his writing soon. The rest of the list is too long and pretentious to list here... I like to read.

whats up I saw that Tanjent made the first post so I figured I would join in the fun. I am a geek as is everyone it seems. I like Magic cards and Comic books. I like old Magic cards better than the new. When I am not at work I am either playing tiger woods 2005 on xbox, or sleeping while my computer burns dvds. I seem to never really find what I am looking for in the opposite sex. I always manage to be too nice and end up as the friend. Its ok but you can only hear what a nice guy you are before you want to rip out your hair. I am mostly quiet and just sit back and relax and watch the world from a safe distance. Well that pretty much sums me up. Lets hope this Community starts smoothly.

Hello, I'm Tanjent, and I don't suck.

I'm a geek, a video game programmer, a damn fine cook, a juggler, a skeptic, an intellectual, a good listener, and my massage skills have earned me rave reviews.

I'm compassionate, caring, nurturing, insightful, honest, objective, skeptical, puzzling, random, eclectic, weird, determined, progressive, liberal, and poofy-haired.

I've driven across the country and back and forth and back and forth again with only my iPod as my companion. I've helped start a software company and watched it grow and disintegrate before my eyes. I've written huge chunks of code in a well-know game that you or your friends may already be addicted to. I've swing danced, I've yoga'd, I've cooked a four-course meal that made the girls swoon. I've moved from a comfortable blue city in a big red state full of dozens of good friends to a strange new city in a beautiful green state full of delicious beer.

I've had many adventures and seen many new places.

But I have not yet had a valentine.

Off To A Slow Start [Feb. 12th, 2005|10:24 pm]

As I mentioned I didn't know if there were any Portland Personal communities, but I figured since 67% of the readers of the Portland Mercury who filled out their survey were single, they'd probably like a community like this.

Welcome members, and remember this is also a community for just making new friends in the area.
